  • Freshwater Fish Tank Penn Plax Action Air Toys 2014-11-13


    Another episode of the ever changing 36 gallon Aqueon fishy tank! My son is behind all of this;) I just have to make it happen. We added the Exotic Environments Tall Skull Mountain with a color changing led bubbler underneath. These fish just don't get a break. That's 9 bubbling action air toys including a 30" bubbler strip under the back wall rocks. The bubbler strip is starting to get clogged and will be removed at some point. All of the devices are attached to one Top Fin 4 outlet air pump model 8000 from Petsmart. 1 outlet is just for the 30" bubbler. The other 3 are split up handling 2 or 3 air action devices each with an individual adjuster valve for exact flow control. The volcano, rum guy and the treasure diver are on one still with individual flow valves. The other 2 ports are handling the rest of the air actions bubbler toys. The Petsmart Great Choice® Airline Connector Kit valves are used as these gave me the best micro control of the air. I tried a few different types and these others did not allow precise control. They would only allow mostly on or off with a slight turn and then it would cut off the air. So the white valves are hanging off off the back inline with the tubing. Balancing for each port is a challenge but when set the flow, you don't have to readjust. Not very neat looking in the back. The clip on multi valve sets would not fit anywhere or required the hood to be cut to fit them on. Fish update: We have lost a few from different uncontrollable issues. A couple of the fish must have eaten something. I'm thinking that 2 have eaten some paint from that volcano. That volcano is known for popping the paint off in the inside and flakes falling everywhere. I try and vacuum the flakes when I see it. One guppy ate too much and died from bloat. A female mickey mouse platy died while giving birth. She was found floating after being missing for a few days. They are baby machines. With the platys, the tank community doubled in 2 months. 2015-1-25.One of the X-ray tetra fish has died with a strange buoyancy problem. They kept swimming upward to keep themselves afloat. Since they are transparent, you could see a slight redness inside the bodies. I tried Pimafix medication with the charcoal removed. They would start to get better but water change process would stress them out again with the conditioned tap water clorine clorimine conversion to ammonia until the ammonia was consumed, then they got worse again. Any ideas on this issues would be nice. This went on for 3 weeks before it passed on. I'm just not an expert on fish diseases. I do not have a hospital tank either. Again, water changes are very often to keep nitrates down below 40ish with ammonia and nitrites are always 0. Full tank cleanings are every 6 months and again there are 2 HOB Aquaclear 50 filters with plenty of good bacteria space. I have to change the water more than normal and larger amounts because I have a mickey mouse platey birthing outbreak. 10 new fish survive every 3 weeks. Crazy. I gave 30 of these fishies to Petco a month ago and now the latest small babies are bigger. Maybe another 25-30 more need to go. Once I get them under control, the water changes can slow down in smaller amounts. Fish Hobby Madness but total fun. Water Conditions: they are working very well. There is just so much info on the internet on how to keep the water clean and stable with consistent water changes. So, more fun to come. We removed the skeleton in a barrel because it was getting stuck with small snails and debris and an arm broke. We have cleaned it and fixed the broken arm. So, we think we will put it back in for an even 10 air toys in a 36 gallon tank. I know, I know.... enough already but it's fun! The audio track is "A Walk Into Space"

    What is Coronary Angioplasty? Coronary Angioplasty, which is also called balloon angioplasty, is designed to restore the flow of blood through coronary arteries narrowed or clogged by plaque or blood clots. How is it performed? The procedure starts with an intravenous line, and the patient will be placed on a heart monitor. The patient may be given an oral or intravenous sedative to help relax. Most Coronary Angioplasty procedures last for 30 minutes to 3 hours. The procedure also includes the slipping of a wire into the femoral artery near the groin area of the patient and it’s guided through the arterial system to the heart. After that a catheter is slipped over the wire and threaded up to the heart, this catheter is then made to inject a special dye. The dye allows the fluoroscope to take X-ray images, put angiograms of the arteries’ interior. Any blockages will be clearly identified as the artery is filled with dye. Once the blockage is identified, a flexible guide wire is inserted into the artery and a balloon tipped catheter is advanced over it and into position to the side of the blockage. Rapid inflation and deflation of the balloon pushes the vessel wall out, re-establishing blood flow through the artery. Few patients will receive a coronary stent, which is a tube made of wire mesh, designed to prop open the artery once it is treated.   • How Balloon Angioplasty is Done Animation - Coronary Angiography Procedure | Stenting in Heart Video


    Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is a minimally invasive procedure to open up blocked coronary arteries, allowing blood to circulate unobstructed to the heart muscle. The procedure begins with the doctor injecting some local anesthesia into the groin area and putting a needle into the femoral artery, the blood vessel that runs down the leg. A guide wire is placed through the needle and the needle is removed. An introducer is then placed over the guide wire, after which the wire is removed. A different sized guide wire is put in its place. Next, a long narrow tube called a diagnostic catheter is advanced through the introducer over the guide wire, into the blood vessel. This catheter is then guided to the aorta and the guide wire is removed. Once the catheter is placed in the opening or ostium of one the coronary arteries, the doctor injects dye and takes an x-ray. If a treatable blockage is noted, the first catheter is exchanged for a guiding catheter. Once the guiding catheter is in place, a guide wire is advanced across the blockage, then a balloon catheter is advanced to the blockage site. The balloon is inflated for a few seconds to compress the blockage against the artery wall. Then the balloon is deflated. The doctor may repeat this a few times, each time pumping up the balloon a little more to widen the passage for the blood to flow through. This treatment may be repeated at each blocked site in the coronary arteries. A device called a stent may be placed within the coronary artery to keep the vessel open. Once the compression has been performed, contrast media is injected and an x-ray is taken to check for any change in the arteries. Following this, the catheter is removed and the procedure is completed. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), commonly known as coronary angioplasty or simply angioplasty, is a non-surgical procedure used to treat the stenotic (narrowed) coronary arteries of the heart found in coronary heart disease. These stenotic segments are due to the buildup of the cholesterol-laden plaques that form due to atherosclerosis. PCI is usually performed by an interventional cardiologist, though it was developed and originally performed by interventional radiologists. During PCI, a cardiologist feeds a deflated balloon or other device on a catheter from the inguinal femoral artery or radial artery up through blood vessels until they reach the site of blockage in the heart. X-ray imaging is used to guide the catheter threading. Angioplasty usually involves inflating a balloon to open the artery and allow blood flow. Stents or scaffolds may be placed at the site of the blockage to hold the artery open. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), commonly known as Heart Bypass, which bypasses stenotic arteries by grafting vessels from elsewhere in the body, is an alternative treatment. However, the coronary revascularization by CABG is associated with an increased risk of stroke. Most studies have found that CABG offers advantages in reducing death and myocardial infarction in people with multivessel blockages compared with PCI. PCI has proven to be as effective and less costly than CABG in people with myocardial ischemia that does not improve with medical treatment. The term balloon angioplasty is commonly used to describe percutaneous coronary intervention, which describes the inflation of a balloon within the coronary artery to crush the plaque into the walls of the artery. While balloon angioplasty is still done as a part of nearly all percutaneous coronary interventions, it is rarely the only procedure performed. Other procedures done during a percutaneous coronary intervention include: Implantation of stents Rotational or laser atherectomy Brachytherapy (use of radioactive source to inhibit restenosis) The angioplasty procedure usually consists of most of the following steps and is performed by a team made up of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, radiographers, and cardiac invasive specialists; all of whom have extensive and specialized training in these types of procedures. Access into the femoral artery in the leg (or, less commonly, into the radial artery or brachial artery in the arm) is created by a device called an "introducer needle". This procedure is often termed percutaneous access. Once access into the artery is gained, a "sheath introducer" is placed in the opening to keep the artery open and control bleeding. Through this sheath, a long, flexible, soft plastic tube called a "guiding catheter" is pushed. The tip of the guiding catheter is placed at the mouth of the coronary artery. The guiding catheter also allows for radio-opaque dyes (usually iodine-based) to be injected into the coronary artery, so that the disease state and location can be readily assessed using real time X-ray visualization.

According to the locals, an alien craft came streaking down towards their farmhouse, before dramatically crashing through a windmill and into a nearby field. The incident, now known as the Aurora UFO incident. Was strangely similar to the Roswell crash, the people who lived on this extremely remote farm would actually discover alien corpses, within the alien wreckage. On the 19th of April 1897, Dallas Morning News, Written by Aurora resident S.E. Haydon, alleged that the UFO is said to have hit a windmill on the property of a Judge J.S. Proctor two days earlier at around 6am resulting in its crash. The pilot, who was reported to have been “not of this world”, and “Martian looking” according to a reported Army officer from nearby Fort Worth, did not survive the crash, subsequently buried with Christian rites at the nearby Aurora Cemetery. And The cemetery does indeed contain a Texas Historical Commission marker mentioning the incident. Reportedly, wreckage from the crash site was dumped into a nearby well, while some ended up with the alien in the grave. Adding to the mystery was the story of Mr. Brawley Oates, who purchased Judge Proctor’s property around 1935. Oates cleaned out the debris from the well in order to use it as a water source, but later developed an extremely severe case of arthritis. He later claimed that he was convinced it to have been the result of the contaminated, alien water. As a result, Oates sealed up the well with a concrete slab and placed an outbuilding atop. However, not only is there clearly extremely compelling details here, some of which clearly needs to be investigated further, there is also the site of an alien grave. In 1998, Dallas-based TV station KDFW aired a lengthy report about the Aurora incident. Reporter Richard Ray interviewed former Fort Worth Star Telegram reporter Jim Marrs and other locals, testifying to something having crashed in Aurora. However, Ray’s report was unable to find conclusive evidence of the extra-terrestrial lifeform or the alien technology. On December 2, 2005, UFO Files undertook an investigation related to the incident, titled “Texas’ Roswell”. Their episode featured a 1973 investigation led by Bill Case, an aviation writer for the Dallas Times Herald and the Texas state director of Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). MUFON investigated the Aurora Cemetery, they discovered a rather peculiar stone, that was, in fact a headstone, which depicts an alien craft, this stone signifies the resting place of what most of the town are convinced, was an alien being. The team received very strange readings from metal detectors when exploring the grave. MUFON asked for permission to exhume the site but the cemetery association declined permission. After the MUFON investigation, the marker mysteriously disappeared from the cemetery and a three-inch pipe was placed into the ground; MUFON’s metal detectors no longer pick up the strange metal readings from the grave, thus it is now largely presumed that the artefacts along with remains have been secretly removed from the grave. MUFON’s report eventually stated that the evidence was inconclusive, but did not rule out the possibility of that strange event actually occurring on the night of 1897. UFO Hunters investigation On November 19, 2008, UFO Hunters aired another television documentary regarding the Aurora incident, titled “First Contact”. The documentary featured one notable change from the UFO Files story – Tim Oates, grandson of Brawley Oates and the now-owner of the property with the sealed well where the UFO wreckage was purportedly buried, allowed the investigators to unseal the well, in order to examine it for possible debris.
